Nobody understands the new Hearthstone

The new mercenary mode inhearthstone is quite complicated, but also very extensive. It is quasi a whole new game.

Hearthstone has announced a new game mode, which should respond mainly fans of Rogue-like games. The mercenaries game mode (Mercenaries) appears quite complex at first glance and differs drastically from the usual Heartthstone experience. It's basically a whole new game - and needs all new card packs.

What is this for a mode? Basically, the mercenary mode has hardly anything to do with the original thought of Hearthstone. So say goodbye to your collection or the usual course of a game.

Instead of having a complete deck, you play with a selection of 6 mercenars, of which you can have 3 at the same time on the battlefield. Mercenaries have attack and life points, but can also be equipped with equipment and use different skills.

How is a train running? The interesting thing about mercenary mode is that all actions of both sides are selected simultaneously. So there is a planning phase in which both your as well as your opponent (whether PVE fight or PVP) selects everything your mercenaries should do in the coming train. This can be a simple attack or the use of a capability.

In what order the attacks are then dealt with, is at the speed value of each action. Small, simplicant skills have a speed of 1-5 and get there relatively early. Great, devastating spells need more time and come to use later, have a speed of 6, 7 or even higher.

This leads to many tactical considerations. Because if your sorcerer mercenaries is already killed before he can use his big attack, the naturally without effect.

The mode we therefore very strategically strategically - but also a bit chaotic, as you never see in advance what the enemy has selected for attacks.

What has it with the mercenaries on themselves? mercenaries are different heroes. To start the mode, there will be 50 different ones. 8 can unlock players for free via the intro experience, more mercenaries can be played or buying themselves directly in the shop.

Each mercenary belongs to one of three classes:

  • Fighters are green and use strong skills to cause damage. Your damage to magicists is doubled.
  • Magicists are blue. They use powerful spells, including strong healing. You have less attacking power, but protectors add duplicate damage.
  • Protector are marked by quasi tanks and red. They distribute strengthening effects and mock the enemies to intercept damage. Your damage to fighters is doubled.

All mercenaries have different skills and equipment that is deserved and upgraded during the adventure. In addition, mercenaries have a permanent level - your troupe becomes increasingly strong in the course of weeks and months.

Where does the mode take place? The mercenary mode does not just get a new menu item, but a whole new graphical interface - a complete mercenary camp. There you will find different buildings, such as the tavern or the shop, which you can build and expand over time. This happens with gold.

The buildings then give you access to more and more features - such as PVP or greater missions on which better equipment is waiting.

Diablo comes as a new mercenary: Quite unexpected was the announcement that Diablo also intermixes in mercenary mode. He actually comes from a completely different franchise, so in Hearthstone only lost little - but when it comes to demons, mercenaries and chaos, then of course the red villain should not be missing.

The community is confused and hardly understood something

If you take a look into the sub -peddit of Hearthstone and the different forums, then there is almost everywhere elegantness and confusion. The great gameplay reveal stream came well with few people and was completely overloaded.

Overall, there are 3 different pre-order packages, each cost 50 € or 30 €. Who buys all 3 packages, must put a whopping 130 € on the virtual table.
