Pokémon Go: Developer stricken after protest - to the joy of the players

In June, Pokémon GO developer Niantic announced an extremely unpopular gameplay decision. The fan reactions to it were so strong that the studio has been backwards a role for a short time - very much to the joy of the players.

By the end of June, developer Niantic had announced to change some features in Pokémon Go - including the distances for interactions in Pokéstops and the Gyms . Gamers had protested against the step loud and Niantic has responded accordingly.

The distances for interactions in Pokéstops and the Gyms were originally adapted and enlarged due to the Corona Pandemic 2020. However, Niantic had announced in June 2021 to reduce these distances back to their previous status - first in the US and New Zealand, then in other regions.

Then had broken down a protest storm , as the shortened distances players would bring together again and the pandemic is by no means completely over. An online petition that Niantic wanted to rethink in this regard, collecting a total of impressive 196,000 signatures. (Source: Change) Niantic has now responded to it in a tweet.

Pokémon developer Niantic bends online protest

This petition has now led to success with the other applied votes online: Niantic had initially founded a Task Force to analyze the player reactions more accurately. Now the studio has announced that the distances are reset to the previous status. In practice, this means that instead of 40 meters now again 80 meters removal are allowed for the interactions .
